Traffic Studies
Comprehensive traffic studies evaluated travel demand, traffic patterns, alternative routes, effects of redirected traffic, traffic congestion and more and how those will benefit traffic flow and planning.
The need for a major north-south highway in the region was identified long before it was officially made a statewide priority. Traffic studies were conducted to support the need for the highway expansion and regional access by forecasting travel demand and analyzing traffic patterns and volume to determine project benefits. Through evaluation, the feasibility of constructing Indiana’s transportation system across all modes of transportation including both freight and passengers began to take shape.
