Supporting the Corridor

Our communities of Southwest Indiana have long contributed to the prosperity and progress of our Hoosier State and beyond. For generations our families and communities have experienced a unique quality of life anchored by a strong work ethic of our people, a growing economy that has weathered the tough times and continues to provide good-paying jobs and an education and training system which has provided a skilled and talented workforce which produces products of unparalleled quality shipped to markets worldwide.

Dubois Strong

Economic development agency, Dubois Strong, conducted a study in partnership with Hunden Strategic Partners, Inc. (HSP) analyzing the impact the Mid-States Corridor Project will have on Dubois and Spencer Counties. Anticipated benefits of the project include increases in economic activity, reduction in congestion and transportation delays, improved access for other modes of transit, decreased costs for freight movement, new employment opportunities, and an overall increase in the quality of life for the region’s residents.

What People Say

Southern Indiana is known as a destination for outdoor recreation. This would boost tourism to new heights.
Joe Morris – Daviess County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau Executive Director
(Times Herald)
The new highway will certainly make it easier for local residents to travel to and from our region to visit, to work, or to attend out-of-town events.
Jeff Quyle, President/CEO Radius Indiana
(Dubois County Free Press)
The new highway can help to separate different classes of traffic, removing many heavy and through vehicles from our local roads. This improvement in separating vehicles of different weights, speeds, and purposes will be a great improvement in safety for local drivers, allowing them to encounter fewer heavy trucks that are passing through the region.
Jeff Quyle, President/CEO Radius Indiana

Any project that has the potential to maintain and grow the competitive advantage of our strong economic base, including manufacturing, retail and agriculture, and provide better access, lower costs and greater speed to national and world markets deserves a serious, thorough and complete study before our communities, region and state decide the most feasible next step.
Denny Spinner – Huntingburg Mayor & Dean Vonderheide – Jasper Mayor
(Dubois County Free Press)
As an elected official, it is my job to prioritize our constituency’s safety and one of the main benefits of the Mid-States Corridor is to improve regional safety. Daviess County is ready to be that positive presence in the state of Indiana and we invite this development to our region and county.
David Rhoads – Washington Mayor
(Times Herald)
Our main topic for this year’s annual meeting was “Southern Indiana Transportation Connectivity,” and we were pleased to hear the level of support for the Mid-States Corridor expressed by our participants. The HSP analysis will provide an understanding of the potential positive impacts of the Corridor, including increased business activity, shorter commutes, greater job opportunities, enhanced tourism and other tax and economic benefits.
